'SINK OR FLY' is an oil painting from artist SXAR's debut series 'Perspectives'. The series focuses on the textural qualities of oil paint to explore dimensionality and perspectives in the artist's chosen scenes. 'SINK OR FLY' is inspired by a photo of American professional swimmer Anita Alvarez taken by photographer Oli Scarff at the 2022 World Aquatic Championships in Budapest. Anita Alvarez is an inspiration for continuing to compete after a scary incident, which was a reminder of the risks and sacrifices professional athletes undertake. The video is created by putting together photos taken by the artist during the painting process.
